Andrea di Mascio got a PhD in “Theoretical and Applied Mechanics” –at University of Rome “Sapienza” . After his PhD he spent 10 years as researcher at Istituto Nazionale per Studi ed Esperienze di Architettura Navale (Italian Ship Model Basin – INSEAN), Rome. Afterwards, he became senior researcher at Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo – Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (Institute for Applied Mathematics – IAC-CNR), Rome . Since 2018, he is full professor of fluid mechanics at Università degli Studi dell’Aquila – Department of Industrial and Information Engineering and Economics. His research interest and activities includes free surface flows; wave breaking; zonal approach for high Reynolds number flows; domain-decomposition methods; multi-grid algorithms; multi-block algorithms; level set techniques for two-phase flow; dynamic overset grids; aero-acoustics; sea-keeping; manoeuvrability; particle methods; parallel computing.
